Looking to beat the crowds? Are there any beaches in Sydney that aren't busy? When I found this beach we had the whole beach to ourselves, apart from the one local that would pop up every now and again.
Flat Rock Beach
I will admit, while not being the most beautiful beach in Sydney, having a near private beach is worth the trade. On a hot day there are plenty of shady spots to set up, if you're on the beach to sun bake, you've got loads of sunny spots too!
A bay surrounded by bush, with no buildings in sight, you'd think you'd have to hike hours to get this.
Just a short walk down and you're at this hidden gem.
If it's been raining lately, you will even get to see a waterfall in the bush here.
Getting There
Drive to the end of Killarney Drive in Killarney Heights. This is a quiet residential street, so there should be no issues for parking. The trail starts at the end of Killarney Drive. It is a well maintained bush track, but it's definitely a bush walk so make sure you have good walking shoes. Follow the trail to the bottom and you're there!
If you do not have access to a car, you can check NSW Transports Plan Your Trip to know the route you'll need. Find Public Transport Routes Here.
