Sydney's String Of Beaches. Hermitage Foreshore Walk

You've all heard of Pub Runs, how about a beach run? This is how this walk feels. With 6 different swimming spots along this 1.8km track, you're spoilt for choice on where you want to swim. With stunning views of Sydney, pockets or rain forest and historical sites, this is why Hermitage Foreshore Walk is my favourite in Sydney.

Sweeping Views Of Sydney from Hermitage Foreshore Walk In Sydney

Easily Sydney's best coastal walk, this easy 1.8km (one way) walk is one to do.

I was blown away by how diverse the walk was, with some parts feeling you're deep in the rainforest, to popping out at Hermit Beach with it's European feel.

The water around here is so clear, with a magical shade of blue.

If you like swimming this is the ultimate walk, with many spots to stop along the way and take a dip.

There are multiple lunch spots as well, fully set up with picnic tables and shady spots.

This walk features so many different spots and lookouts, you will not get bored on this stroll.

I personally chose Queens Beach to take my dip at, but it was a hard choice to make!

Getting There

You can start this walk at two different points. Starting at either Bayview Hill Road, or Nielsen Park. At either point you start, the track is very easy to find.

The track here is well maintained and built up.

I started at Bayview Hill Road, but parking was quite far away and tricky. If I did it again, I'd start at Nielsen Park for better parking.

All the beaches are easy to access off the track.

If you're taking public transport you can use the Trip Planner to organise your trip. Click here for Trip Planner.

Know Before You Go

  • There are toilets, showers and fresh water available at Nielsen Park

  • The beaches are unpatrolled, there are no lifeguards here

  • There is no food available, make sure you pack your own lunch

  • UV in Australia is strong, make sure you wear sunscreen even on cloudy days

I would like to acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of this land and pay my respects to the Elders both past and present.
